FALL
THE SECOND MILAGRO has brought us a third "milagro"
or miracle the last couple of months. In 1989 my husband Ray and I "adopted" two little sisters who lived
in The Salvation Army Children's Home in Acapulco. Essentially, this meant we helped to pay for their care, but with a bonus.
Since we lived part of the year in Acapulco, we were able to have them in our home whenever they were not in school.
Elena was six and Betty four at the time. We had wonderful adventures and made great memories over the years with
these two precious girls. Then, in
'95 they were moved to Tampico, Mexico. We were heart broken. We sent packages, letters, and money, but it was
not the same for them or us. After several years, our checks went uncashed. Finally, we were told that the girls'
family had taken them from the home. There was no forwarding address. Over the years, we have talked about them, wondering where and how they were, visualizing
them as teenagers. A few months ago, I received an email from a friend of Elena's. Alfonso had found me!
Elena had seen my website. As soon as we received the email, we wrote and called. MIRACLES do happen. Our little girls are all grown up. Elena is now twenty-four.
She is attending UNAM, Mexico's major university. Betty is living in northern Mexico, with her family. Recently,
the miracle flourished more. I flew to Mexico City and spent a week with our little girl!!! Elena is now a beautiful
woman, so graceful and poised, loving and caring, independent and inspiring. After all these years, we are like mother
and daughter again. This has to be the most wonderful result of my having my name on the web! I hope to see Betty
as well, in the coming days. She is a wonderful singer, I hear! Now our family is complete once more! Hope you
